Subject of this practical study is the examination of the typology of a special building called “Autobarn” by the UK-based architectural firm “Bindloss Dawes”.
“Autobarn” features a spacious garage facility including a workshop for the client’s car collection on the premises of an old country estate. Inspired by surrounding barn buildings, the architects reinterpret this concept and create a seamless structure in its environment.
The task is realized through two interconnected rectangles, consisting of a concrete base plate, a steel structure sitting on top of it and a thermal insulated wood frame construction on the outside. Its choice of local materials and the composition of the building make it easy to prefabricate and to assemble.
My following architectural drawings examine the specifics of the object in detail.
